Остров Ратманова
Скалистый остров в Беринговом проливе — самая восточная точка Россия. Длина - около 9 км, с плато в центре и крутыми обрывами по краям. Входит в группу островов Диомида. Всего в 3,8 км находится остров Крузенштерна (США) — между ними проходит линия перемены дат: здесь можно «увидеть завтра» через пролив.
До середины XX века здесь жили эскимосы, занимавшиеся морским промыслом. Однако в 1948 году население было полностью переселено на материк, и с тех пор остров остаётся необитаемым. Сегодня это закрытая пограничная территория: на острове действует застава, доступ строго ограничен. Климат суровый — до 300 дней в году держатся туманы, а арктические ветра формируют жёсткие условия, почти исключающие развитие растительности и постоянной жизни.

Крайняя восточная точка Чукотского полуострова, соответственно, крайняя восточная материковая точка России и всей Евразии. Представляет собой изолированный плосковершинный горный массив высотой до 740 м, круто обрывающийся к морю.
Впервые был достигнут русской экспедицией Семёна Дежнёва осенью 1648 года. Впервые в истории пройдя Берингов пролив (фактически открыв его) и обогнув Чукотский полуостров, Дежнёв решил важную географическую задачу. Появилось доказательство того, что Америка — самостоятельный континент, а из Европы в Китай можно плавать северными морями вокруг Сибири.

Колючин залив: 2800 метров до Северного Ледовитого океана
Большой залив в Чукотском море на северном побережье Чукотского полуострова. Исконное название Колючинская губа.
В 1793 году бухта была названа бухтой графа Безбородко в честь российского государственного деятеля Александра Безбородко. Местные жители не могли привыкнуть к этому названию, и позже бухта была переименована в Колючинскую в честь близлежащего острова Колючин.
Длина залива составляет 100 км. Глубина Колючинской бухты составляет от 7 до 14 метров. Залив покрыт льдом большую часть года. Его устье находится всего в 2,8 км из-за островов Серых Гусей и косы Беляка (Коса Беляка), отделяющих его от Северного Ледовитого океана. Ширина увеличивается до 37 км по мере продвижения на юг и вглубь материка.

Остров Колючин. Мир Дикого Востока.
Остров в Чукотском море. Находится на севере Иультинского района Чукотского автономного округа рядом с национальным селом Нутепельмен. Кратчайшее расстояние до материка через пролив Сергиевского составляет 11,3 км. Остров представляет собой горный останец с максимальной высотой 188 м над уровнем моря.
Русское название произошло от искаж. чук. Кувлючьин — «круглое». На языке чаплинских эскимосов Кулусик — «отдельная льдина». Посетивший остров Джеймс Кук нанёс его на карту как Burney’s Island. С 1943 по 1992 год здесь была размещена Полярная станция.

Село Уэлен
Село в Чукотском районе Чукотского автономного округа. Самый восточный обжитой населённый пункт России и Евразии. Село занимает узкую вытянутую полосу земли шириной триста метров. С одной стороны — лагуна, с другой — Чукотское море. Дома стоят на сваях: так строят на вечной мерзлоте. Во время штормов вода порой подтапливает лестницы зданий. На берег иногда выбрасывает туши моржей и китов, на запах приходят медведи. Здесь проживает около 600 человек (в основном, чукчи и эскимосы). Основное занятие жителей — рыболовство, морзверобойный промысел.
Согласно археологическим раскопкам, территория современного Уэлена в прошлом была заселёна эскимосами, однако в конце XVII — начале XVIII веков они были постепенно вытеснены чукчами. На европейские карты Уэлен впервые был нанесён в 1792 году во время экспедиции Биллингса-Сарычева.

Expedition cruise program
Immediately after settling in, we’ll have a welcome lunch. And don’t forget to look through the portholes or over the side of the ship: even in Anadyr Estuary, there’s a 100% chance we’ll spot toothed whales — belugas.
Anadyr Bay is so vast that few seas can rival it. We’ll call this our "Day of Knowledge" — listening to fascinating lectures by members of the scientific team and watching documentary and feature films in the lecture hall. We’ll also meet the captain, Igor Borisovich Kiselev, on the bridge. Some 40 years ago, he was the one who first raised the Russian flag and took the "Professor Khromov" on her maiden voyage.
Today will be packed with experiences, so you’ll need all the energy you saved during yesterday’s crossing.
In the morning, we’ll land on Itygran Island, home to Whale Bone Alley — an ancient Eskimo sanctuary made from the bones and skulls of bowhead whales. It looks remarkably like a contemporary conceptual installation. Created no later than the 16th century, the site was discovered only about half a century ago.
We’ll then continue aboard the "Professor Khromov" into Senyavin Strait, where we’ll watch for whales and visit the coastal hunting village of Yanrakynnot. Nearby lies the modern-day Whale Bone Cemetery, an unsettling monument of sorts to traditional whaling. Hundreds of enormous bones — some almost as tall as a person — create a sight that is both chilling and mesmerizing.

The distance from Cape Dezhnev to Cape Prince of Wales, the westernmost point of North America, is just 86 km. On a clear day, from the monument to Russian explorer Semyon Dezhnev — whose expedition reached this remote corner of the world in 1648 — you can see the shores of the neighboring continent. Let’s hope we get lucky!

It takes only about 20 minutes to travel from one island to the other — but you’ll have to move your clock forward by 21 hours. The two islands are separated not only by an international border, but also by the International Date Line. That’s why Ratmanov and Kruzenshtern are also known as the Islands of Yesterday and Tomorrow.
If weather conditions make a landing impossible, we’ll take a Zodiac cruise to a giant walrus rookery. In 2025, it was home to up to 6,000 animals. Trekking enthusiasts can climb to the island’s summit — Mount Krysha, 505 meters high — and even touch a Douglas aircraft that crashed here on June 3, 1971.

We’ll head to Penkegney Bay. For those who enjoy a long walk, there’s a 14-km trek across the tundra to the hot springs. For those who prefer a shorter adventure, there’s a visit to Merkinkan Island, home to tufted puffins, followed by whale watching and a short 3-km trek from Gilmimyl Bay to the hot springs.
Gilmimyl Bay is part of Beringia National Park. A short walk will reward us with a relaxing soak in the thermal waters and mesmerizing views of the national park. After the springs, we’ll return to the ship. If the weather is good, we may enjoy dinner as a picnic on the shore, in a pavilion inside Beringia National Park.

We’ll spend the day making our way back to the port of Anadyr. Once again, we’ll have a full "Day of Knowledge", bringing together everything we’ve learned and experienced during the expedition.
