From Avacha Bay — the largest natural harbor in the world — we enter the Pacific Ocean. To our right, majestic Kamchatka volcanoes rise one after another: Avachinsky, Koryaksky, Kozelsky, and Vilyuchinsky. Toward evening, we drop anchor at the entrance to Russian Bay. Its nearly parallel shores are covered with dense forest, from which brown bears emerge during spawning season. In Zodiac inflatable boats, we explore the bay: approaching a small Steller sea lion rookery and viewing the remains of abandoned vessels. Tomorrow, the Kurils await us!
